Starting Wedge Use – Important Reminder:
Please be reminded to use proper care when adjusting the starting wedges on the starting blocks.
When moving the wedge, do not yank or pull on the metal portion to slide it back and forth. This can damage the mechanism and the block.
Correct procedure:
• Place one hand on the top/upper portion of the wedge to guide it
• Use your other hand to pull and adjust the wedge smoothly
• Continue adjusting until you hear two distinct clicks
• After adjusting, check both sides of the wedge to confirm the pins are fully engaged and going through the holes on each side
It is the responsibility of the swimmer and coach to ensure the wedge is properly secured before use. Improper handling can result in equipment damage and potential safety issues.
