Catholic Athletes for Christ

A letter from Erin Connaghan '08, Assistant Director of Advancement, about Catholic Athletes for Christ:

McDevitt has recently added a new club/organization to our school, Catholic Athletes for Christ. Catholic Athletes for Christ is a national organization whose mission is to serve Catholic athletes and share the Gospel of Christ in and through athletics.

Our CAC chapter is monitored by Coach Jeff Weachter and Deacon Joseph Wrabel. As a former Crusader and collegiate athlete, I reached out to Coach Weachter and asked him if I could be apart of this organization and with open arms, he accepted my request. Our group primarily consists of mainly males with a few females that have come in out of meetings. Being only 1 or 2 girls in a group of 40+ boys can be mildy intimated. I hope by being apart of CAC and being a female athlete myself, I can help our female student athletes feel more comfortable in joining CAC and attending our meetings. Deacon Wrabel preaches powerful messages that can relate to all student athletes and can help mentally prepare them for their current contests, daily life, and their future.

I ask that you invite all your student athletes to join us but we would especially love our girls teams to be represented. I will be there to serve as an outlet for them and hope to make them feel more included and comfortable. Our next meeting is Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 7:15 AM in the gym. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or Coach Weachter.

Thanks so much!
